There are others

29/11/2007

Gosh yes two posts in one day, blogtastic, but I can think of no other finer reason to bring you two rambles in as many hours.

Its a big world, I don’t know about you, but I feel incredibly alone sometimes with my brain and thoughts and dreams, it seems the majority of the world just follows along, bloody base drums, synthesizers, lads with guitars and trendy haircuts, loads of music videos with sweaty oily people…anyhow thats what sells and what the majority want so thats whats done..end of rant.

Its just nice to see there are some different things out there, things of beauty truth and true originality.

I really dont need to say anything, its perfect and I adore it

Anticipation of Happiness

29/11/2007

I had such a lovely dream last night. My house was on many many levels, surrounded and enclosed by trees and secret gardens, one room of the house had a giant glass wall overlooking the dark stormy sea, the kitchen filled with lovely copper pans and a beautiful aga.

I woke up and then did some work.

Then I stumbled upon this!

appines.jpg

I’m not normally a super fan of paintings with me being such a super modern trender, but this, this is gorgeous, god forgive me for my next sentence, forgive me for this next horrible sentence of polo necks, gallery openings, sparkling wine and nibbles…here it comes:

“I adore the brush work.”

I cant stop looking at it, I’m not sure I like that its jammed full of colour, or maybe I do like that part of it? Its just blinking lovely, and again I cant find out who did it!

Wintery sounds ludovico einaudi

25/11/2007

The ocean smashing against the shore, windy hills, shifly shafly whispy misty forests…snowing on the beach, candles on a hillside, watching the stars on a warm night with a glass of whisky…

Gosh I adore this man. His music is so simple, but gorgeous. I try to see him live whenever I can, his music seems to have spoken to everybody, seeing him live theres people from all walks of life with all colours of hair, not just the classical hob nobs.

This is one of his latest and similarly gorgeous it be:, the more casual readers in need of quicker satisfaction may wish to fast forward this one to the middle…

Close your eyes and listen to this lovelyness:

The chap is sooo humble and lovely, he’s so happy that everybody enjoys his music and almost seems surprised that they do, he’s not pretentious in any way which all the art worlds are far too full of.

Calm sailing

The Pipes

24/11/2007

Im not sure there is much else in the world that can rouse the goosebumps as a good bit of bag piping in front of a crowd of people…if this man ever does a concert anywhere I will get myself in debt to go there.

Todays caffeine intake is rather high and the jitters have come so apologies for the lack of humor and curious tales.

Warmth on the wall

19/11/2007

I need something on my wall.

I went about it the wrong way. Being officially trained and issued with a certificate of authenticity I am officially an illustrator. So I thought..why not make something myself to adorn my rather plain wall..why not indeed!

The day of canvas painting didn’t go too well. The paint annoyed me for drying too slowly, the weather annoyed me for not being foggy enough, and my tummy annoyed me by being hungry. Canvas day ended with me throwing my canvas into a river…not upon my wall as originally intended.

So to find something to go one my wall, nothing too well known, It would be hell to have people come round and say ‘ oh isnt that a turner, or a dali, or some other overknown overseen overwuly on my wall’ (see a previous post on the matter of having a fav trendy artist) So I began randomly searching around for something, when Natasha Wescoat popped up!

Lovely Im sure you will agree!?

Full of yummy christmas warmth, imagine framed in a lovely black chunky frame above a roaring fire, a brandy in ones hand, reading a lovely book, a wet mucky puppy asleep at your feet. Warm bright colours, dreams, winds, lonely fields and happy trees.

Aye indeed those arty ones amungst you may say they are rather similar to Gustav Klimt, especialy this one:

But I like them much better, very much like my previous peter pan post, redoing something in a style that more ( or different) people can enjoy.

So there we are, something for the wall, I actualy bring myself to buy a framed print this evening…of course I could attempt another canvas…

i DO believe in fairies!!

5/11/2007

Im not sure what I can say about this, its in my top 5 movies..and considering Im not a fan of movies anyway this must be something rather tiffing!

And yes tiffing it is, I adore it, its perfect, a dream, a wish, colours…! Colours a kimbo! Another world of different rules…and the music, my my gosh.

Im really struggling to get across what I feel inside more than usual today after a rather stressful day. The clouds are suessy and perfect, gosh the colours! it sends shivers down the spine.

There will be those no doubt who will say they prefer the old old disney animation. Well I dont, and this is in another league. Thought has gone into this, people have had meetings, artists called in, pastels and paint have been used, coffee drunk. People out there have poured their hearts and souls into this and it shows…do give it a wurl. This is another of those things which has permission to be played loud.

Christ I hate radio 1.

If you are a hipper hopper, and like a bit more hippety hop in your ramble, this is also an excellent montage

Gosh, im tempted to buy a HD Telly, HD DVD player (or blueray of course) and a dangerously submersive surround sound system just to enjoy this film the best it can

Following the dream.

3/11/2007

Another tale of those taking a risk, following a dream, doing something different…it didnt work out to be a financial success, but touched some people VERY deeply.

Behold TREASURE PLANET, one of the best things to come out of disney since the classic days of Aladdin and lion king.

Its not so much the story that does it, but just how they have taken it and totally flipped it on its head, yet kept the past in the future…and it just looks beautiful, its scrummy and oozes colour and atmosphere.

I appologise for the lack of good grammer and good things to say its rather late, but I so adore this film, im not normaly a film person, but theres something about this, something that now lives inside me for ever and will be shown (with force is required) to the curly children.

Sleep tight voyagers

Benches

3/11/2007

Its a little early in the day to have had 3 coffees, but alas its just been one of those days.

Looking outside my window at work im drawn to people sat on the benches, all from different walks of life, trendy chaps, older chaps, just plain old normal chaps…and right now there’s a lovely chap sat by himself, who has treated himself to a nice butty, he’s put a napkin down on his knees and is eating away so politely, occasionally looking up at people and letting his mind wander to his favorite places.

These benches, used by so many people for different reasons, so well used and respected by all. All the moments that these benches have witnessed.

Some lovely lovely benches, some moments into other worlds…

Actualy thats the only lovely bench image I can find not containing a token naked person doing an awful pose done in the hope of getting a modeling career
