since the dawn of time ive always wished to have a lovely sketch book full of gorgeous things i’ve done.
its always the same i search for a sketch book, it has to be the right size, colour and right texture on to which i apply art. I always start off really careful, making sure i put pure gold on every page. I usually manage it for the first few pages then something awful happens. we’ve all been there, when you do something and then you instantly hate it afterwards and want to erase it from memory. Urges to rip that damn page out usually over take me by now but either way i’ve lost the dream of having a sketch book of pure gold.
perhaps it wasn’t to be
however saying that i’ve found some wonderful examples of those sketch books i dream about

Beautiful finds for sure, my wife does painting and sketching, she is a perfectionist though, I am not, I think sometimes we have to be the best we can be and enjoy our talents and appreciate and keep what we have, yes we will always be able to do better but it is also nice to see the progress as we grow. the key is not to get frustrated in the process.

Hi, thanks for the lovely review. Glad you enjoyed my work. Your art postings are incredible and you have a great website here. I had to laugh at the sketchbook bit. I am just the same but when I cannot bear a particular sketch which lets the side down I do another on plain paper and stick it over the offender, thus keeping the sketchbook pure gold…lol.

Ha, I’m the same way. I have three or four beautiful sketchbooks lying around empty because they’re too pretty for me to chance messing up in…leather covers, embossing, the whole bit. My big sloppy newsprint sketchpads with the hideous covers are the ones that get filled up with art.
I bet there’s a moral in there somewhere.
Great website! I’ll be back for more.
