i heard this song the other day and a great big smile appeared on my face. it was a smile to say, ‘i found something new and its ace!’
its so full of hope and glorious dreams that one day will be real. It builds and builds to the point you’ve almost most packed your bags and waiting at the door to follow your dreams
After my early rant on Raissa I did a little bit of digging around and found she now ’spearheads’ (how I hate that term, it makes me think of board meetings and pin stripe), yes she spearheads ‘The Mummers’
http://www.myspace.com/TheMummers
And what gloriousness, what utter gloriousness. Modern music, real music performed with REAL instruments, no blinking synthey autotune bass drum bass drum. Please do listen to ‘Somebody Said’ A wonderful march, something so gloriously different, fairgrounds, clouds, britishness….oh my golly Im lost within this, a fantastic breath of lovely fresh air, absolutely scrummy for the ears
Back in the day, those days of goodness, there was good. Things where good and this is one of those goods. Thanks to the glory of youtube I have managed to find this lost treasure.
Its not deep, its not powerful or any of that. Its fun and good and lovely for my ears, and I listen over and over again…in fact in parts its rather scary when she looks straight at you with her maniac eyes. (2:30ISH) Somehow she hypnotizes me, I get drawn in
Its almost a piddle take of the standard music video, right at the end she was just waiting for the loo, I love this, again backing up this DONT TAKE MUSIC TOO SERIOUS lovelyness.
I do hope you enjoy, I cant really find much more information about this lassy, she deserved riches, pools and things of gold
This evening I am reminded of a christmas eve spent at aunt ritas house. Of course her name wasnt aunt rita but will serve this evening as her name to protect the almost innocent.
I was a little boy of smaller height and curl. There I sat christmas eve, I hated it. (little did I know how later in life I would adore the inspiration received from that evening) I sat there, aunty Rita had a log fire going in her cottage, really crappy chintzy christmas decorations everywhere, and the room filled to the BRIM with family, a large buffet of lovely egg butties
(there is art in this story..it follows soon)
Now I only desire for a little cottage full of family, friendly and a log fire, crappy decorations etc….im half way there, I have a cottage, an open fire, I just need to borrow some family and eggs.
Back to this overly long story.
There I sat in my comically christmas waistcoat, I had recently started to like music…previous to this moment i had just liked what everybody else did, but going to college changed me, and i came accross this:
It was released for christmas, I sat in Aunty Rita’s, she had the radio on, they were about to say who was christmas number one…and I actually cared! i really wanted the above song to win, it was different…and good.
Alas it didnt get to number one, but still the memories of that day stay with me now, and will forever.
Its truly gorgous, and to this day remains on my itunes top played list, I do hope you enjoy it.
Lovely on a few levels, its cheesy and not taking itself too serious, tis rather catchy and there is some good words of hope in there…for a few seconds there is a nice visually pleasing bit: 1:35
I remember first listening to this after mistaking octopus for onions rings and then proceeding to be rather violently sick outside an over stereotypical pub in the majestic foreign british lands of Gibraltar.
…are you lost, lonely, confused, sad? Just walk around that hill and take a look from the other side
Please do click the magic play button below, and give it a few minutes to get going, you will be rewarded with joys.
I ramble enough about Ludovico Einaudi enough here so I wont go into a deep rant. The simplicity, the unpretentious wonderfulness, the goosebumps, the shivers. He’s inspired so many, and he’s such a modest man he deserves cuddles of the highest order
Take a sip of your favorite warm caffeine beverage and give this a click
Lovely odd mixes of 7th Chords and D’s and G minors all lovingly mixed together into a wurlybob of lovelyness, haunting, absolutely spot on various dots. Blues and purples, stalking, following, wanting, desiring..and the unknown.
That Chap on the piano really gets into it towards the end.
Well after a few weeks of no bloggywoggy, its time to return to the goosebumps, the shivers, the inspiration and the love.
And here we are. Is this a bit trendy? I bit hippity hop? Maybe, but I do adore this. It just looks absolutely gorgeous, desolation isolated heaven. And those strip lights in the desert? Golly gosh I/Somebody needs to rip this off for some awfully expected fashioney photos
Im I sounding a little pretentious after the return from blog rest? Maybe, lets see where this new world takes me
Every now and then a dance chap does something with something behind it..this is perfection (what else would we allow at the windmill?!)
Lost dreams, lost hopes, memories of sitting on beaches at night, desires, wants…all gone…the video is lovely, the red of the lips, the expression on her face…all very hitchcocky..wonderful, haunting…
You may think me some format of art snob, only liking the finer things in life, fine wines, fast cars, big house, art on the wall, legions of oily ladies at my command…well you’d be quite right. (ho ho ho how I joke on only coffee:1)
I miss pop, really crap pop, with no other purpose than to entertain, its not trying to be taken serious, there is no super super deep meaning..it’s just to entertain and make you happy, and have a laugh. JUST music, they arent claiming to be gods… I’ve slipped once more into a rant so I’ll stop.
Some recent good un’s:
Makes me think of roasting summers, sweatiness, a lovely warm coffee, blazing sun, coconut sun tan lotion….POWER TO THE GEEK
Next tonight Matthew, gosh this takes me back to my university days, this lass totally disappeared after this, buts its lovely, makes me remember my first experiences of coffee and the resulting tower that was constructed out of the used polystyrene cups..
This be an all time piece of yummyness:
Another one from university days, whilst most where out doing what students do with beer, girls and R&B, I was queuing in HMV, drinking too much coffee and buying Allstars singles (to the horror of Uncle Phil who became rather traumatized being a fan of ‘good music’)…(Uncle Phil was not my uncle, he disappeared shortly after the purchase of this single, ive not heard from him for many a year)
And to round of this ramble, what poppy collection would be complete without Miss Moore…who unfortunately has disappeared from the racks at HMV despite my efforts of taking her CD’s and placing them ontop of her rivals:
I may return with another ramble on a similar subject soon Safe sailing voyagers!
