Good evening faithful followers of the Mill, this evening I bring a bit of paint.

For those who have read my rambles of this subject before will know, I am not a fan of the paint in the frame, in the gallery, behind a wall. But there is something about these images that caught my eye.

A little different and wonderfully dark arent they?

Are you interested in reading more dear reader? or do you enjoy the images? Personally I wouldn’t have read this far…but lets have a test with some more content and see how do?

Here is the artists statement of his work:

Painting is a means of communicating & deepening one’s personal perceptions & reactions to the world, the small things that strike us as poignant, even if only for a fleeting instant.

Painting is a means for closer observation of the world, and of one’s self. Representational painting is a language for expressing or recording what’s visible, but I feel it is of most interest when focused on something not entirely visible. In other words, I try to paint the exterior world in such a way as to evoke the mysterious richness & vastness of the interior world each of us carries within.

My hope is that some of that feeling is passed on, or generated anew in the viewer.

Still with me? Then let us continue. I had a further dig into the artists site and found these additional wonders…these are true wonders

That last one I would adore on my wall

His boxed comic laid out images also attract my caffeinated eye:

what is it that i like about these pictures?

i can’t decide if they are paint or photo! they remind me of those endless paintings you see in old art galleries but done with a modern twist. Nothing majorly exicting is happening in them but they interest the hell out of me.

for more arty stillness

Well shimmy my wednesday morning coffee. (Ive just ordered a more industrial coffee machine from amazon to manage the increased demands of late)

These paintings by Maya Kulenovic are just tip top tastic. I don’t normally like portraits, but these portraits seem to speak to me.

Gloriously dark and full of atmosphere, nightmares, are these lost souls?they all seem damaged and lost, trapped between worlds…alone, dying inside?

<img src="http://www.mayakulenovic.com/paintings-faces07/scribe.jpg" width="400"alt="" />

I simply adore them, do have a look at the artists website:

http://www.mayakulenovic.com/

There are also some fabulous paintings of land and buildings, but its these portraits that have me captivated. I do hope you enjoy them
